2014 NRMP Match: Baystate Has 98% Match Rate for Categorical Positions
April 01, 2014: Baystate Medical Center's 10 residency programs had an overall match rate of 98% for categorical positions (86 of 88), and 96% for all positions (86 of 90). In addition, 24 fellows will be starting in 15 fellowships. In total, 117 trainees will begin their programs on July 1, 2014.
 
All PGY-1 and PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency Positions Filled in the 2014 Match
April 01, 2014: Baystate Medical Center matched all five of its open PGY-1 pharmacy residency positions, and its single PGY-2 Critical Care pharmacy residency position, in the Pharmacy Residency Match in March 2014.
 
Michael Flaherty MD Wins National Resident Research Award
April 01, 2014: Dr. Michael Flaherty, PGY3 Pediatrics resident, has been awarded an Academic Pediatric Association Research Award for Best Abstract by a Resident.
 
Internal Medicine Residents Win Top Innovation Award at SGIM Regional Meeting
April 01, 2014: PGY3 residents Auras Atreya MD and Behdad Besharatian MD won the top award in the Innovation Presentation category at the 2014 Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Regional Conference at Harvard Medical School. Their poster is titled “Android Application Based Educational Tool to Improve Cost-Conscious Care Among Internal Medicine Residents."
 
Residents Gauri Luthra MD and Tara Abraham MD Present Posters at CREOG/APGO Meeting
April 01, 2014: Drs. Tara Abraham, PGY3 resident, and Gauri Luthra, PGY4 resident, each presented posters at the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics-Gynecology/Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics annual meeting in Atlanta GA in February 2014.
 
Baystate Continuing Interprofessional Education Receives Joint Accreditation
March 01, 2014: Baystate Continuing Interprofessional Education (BCIE) has been granted a six year Joint Accreditation by the governing bodies of the American Nurses Credential Center, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education. Baystate was commended for its vision, leadership, and commitment to lifelong learning.
 
Paul Visintainer PhD Named Director of Research
March 01, 2014: Paul Visintainer PhD, Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, was named Director of Research at Baystate Health in December 2013. His goal in this new role is to "create and support a culture of inquiry here that ultimately supports the hospital's mission of improving the health of our community."
