Human Research Protection Program Receives Full 5-year Accreditation from AAHRPP

August 01, 2013

The Council on Accreditation of the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP) awarded Baystate's HRPP a full 5-year accreditation effective June 14, 2013.

A 2-day site visit in February that included interviews with numerous Baystate respresentatives as well as a review of research records, led the site visit team and accrediting council to note several strengths. "All parties participated in education opportunities such as staff’s participation in continuing education and becoming certified IRB Professionals, the number and range of people who attend national conferences, the incorporation of certification into the job descriptions and career ladder for research coordinators.”

According to Jennifer Pacheco, Interim Director of HRPP, AAHRPP accreditation is a "gold seal" that assures research participants, researchers, sponsors, government regulators, and the general public of a quality program.
