Tala Elia, MD Wins Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Clinical Pathologic Case Semi-finals

August 01, 2011

Dr. Tala Elia, Department of Emergency Medicine, had the winning Clinical Pathologic Case (CPC) presentation at the June meeting of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine in Boston. The CPC finals, to be held at the American College of Emergency Physicians meeting in San Francisco in October, features winners of all the regional competitions.

Finalists will each receive a different and challenging case that includes a description of a patient presentation including history, physical exam, and other pertinent facts, along with ancillary studies such as, laboratory data, electrocardiograms, x-rays, and CT scans. Finalists are judged on their twenty-minute presentations, with the most important criteria being the quality of their differential diagnosis.
