Education

The Department of Public Health and Family Medicine of Tufts University School of Medicine is actively involved in patient care and clinical teaching with an emphasis on the principles and practice of outpatient primary care and managed health care. The Department has clinical faculty in a variety of community settings with more than 180 faculty at 95 sites, including family physicians at Baystate Medical Center and other sites throughout Western Massachusetts.


The diversity of these programs, with service to urban, suburban, and rural populations, and a strong clinical base represents a major strength for the Department.

Education Programs

3rd Year Core Clerkship

The Family Medicine clerkship is one of the 6 core clerkships required of all third-year medical students. This is a four-week experience in community-based settings that reflects the highest values and traditions of family medicine.

4th Year Electives for Medical Students
