Career Description

Education

Medical Assistant programs may offer an associates degree, certificate or diploma. The curriculum must include medical terminology, medical law and ethics, psychology, communication, medical assisting administrative procedures, medical assisting clinical procedures. Programs must include an externship that provides practical experience in qualified physician’s offices, accredited hospitals, or other health care facilities.

Pre-requisites

Approval for an externship opportunity at BMC may include an interview, as well as a cover letter and resume.

Length of Clinical Experience

Approximately 4-5 weeks at 40 hours/week.
