Career Description
A Molecular Biology Technologist performs specific laboratory techniques, which include the operation of complex instruments, to diagnose genetic diseases and disorders at the gene level. This discipline encompasses the fields of molecular biology, chemistry, genetics and biochemistry. The focus of Molecular Biology testing lies in the biochemical reactions involving DNA, RNA and gene regulation.
Education
Accredited 4-year programs in molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or biochemistry which lead to a baccalaureate degree or specific certificate degree.
Pre-requisites
Clinical experiences are arranged through the academic advisor from programs affiliated with Baystate Medical Center.
Length of Clinical Experience
Students will participate in clinical experiences for a period of 6 months.
