Career Description
Phlebotomy Technicians are professionally trained and certified individuals who work in hospitals, clinical laboratories, and other health care facilities obtaining blood from patients by venipuncture and microtechniques. In addition to technical, clerical, and interpersonal skills, the Phlebotomy Technician must develop strong organizational skills to handle heavy workloads efficiently and maintain accuracy.
Education
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Pre-requisites
Clinical experiences are arranged through the academic advisor from programs affiliated with Baystate Medical Center.
Length of Clinical Experience
Students will participate in clinical experiences for 80 hours within a 2 week period.
