We are proud to offer an ACGME accredited 2 year Critical Care Fellowship Program at Baystate Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine. We currently offer 2 positions per year. Our program emphasizes 20 months of exceptional clinical training and includes 4 months of research in the second year.
Baystate Medical Center serves a population of patients from Southern Vermont and New Hampshire, Eastern New York and Northern Connecticut and Western Massachusetts which includes a population of approximately one million patients. In addition, we have committed resources to a state-of-the-art 24-bed adult intensive care unit.
Adult critically-ill medical and surgical inpatients are cared for in a 24 bed Intensive Care Unit. The annual patient volume is approximately 1600 patients, 45% surgical and 55% medical. The Intensive Care Unit is run by Board Certified Critical Care Specialists whose primary disciplines are Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, or Surgery.
For three years in a row, Baystate Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit wins the Beacon Award. This award has been granted by the AACN for Critical Care Excellence. Baystate Medical Center’s high quality nursing care earned the designation Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence in 2005, one of 170 in the nation and only five in Massachusetts.
