Emergency Ultrasonography Fellowship Milestones (Objectives)

First 4 Months
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic ultrasound exams:
- limited cardiac echo, aorta, renal, biliary, transvaginal/transabdominal pelvic, vascular, DVT
- Perform 300 bedside ultrasound exams, overread by fellowship director or associate director
- Plan and initiate an ultrasound-based research project
- Perform quality assurance on at least 300 resident and faculty ultrasound exams
Second 4 Months
- Demonstrate proficiency in advanced ultrasound exams:
- advanced cardiac echo, critical care ultrasound, soft tissue, ocular, pediatric, thoracic, testicular
- Perform a total of 650 bedside ultrasound exams, overread by fellowship director or associate director
- Complete data collection on ultrasound-based research project
- Perform quality assurance on at least 600 resident and faculty ultrasound exams
Third 4 Months
- Demonstrate an understanding of Emergency Ultrasound program development issues:
- Faculty education, resident education, billing and coding, credentialing, ultrasound machine purchasing, network development
- Perform a total of 1000 bedside ultrasound exams, overread by fellowship director or associate director
- Finish write-up and presentation of ultrasound-based research project
- Perform quality assurance on at least 800 resident and faculty ultrasound exams
