Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Curriculum Year 2

70% RESEARCH
In your second year, research will be emphasized. With the support and guidance of your research mentor you will develop a knowledge base in the chosen area/areas of interest. You will develop a protocol and initiate the study. Faculty within the division are actively involved in research projects in growth and puberty, HIV lipodystrophy, cystic fibrosis related diabetes, immune interventions in type 1 diabetes, and informatics. There is a strong collaboration with the basic scientists at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst (25 miles northeast of Baystate) allowing the fellow who chooses a basic research project rich and varied mentorship possibilities. The other major strength of the program is the quality improvement and outcomes research.
