Goals
This rotation provides the student with an overall view of the specialty of anesthesiology. The student's time is spent primarily in the operating room under the supervision of a member of the faculty and/or senior resident. Students will participate in all the teaching activities of the Department of Anesthesiology, and will have the opportunity to attend a variety of other conferences
Objectives
The student will…
- follow patients from their preoperative evaluation through their postoperative recovery.
- spend the majority of time in the operating room under the supervision of a faculty member and/or senior resident.
- master control of the airway including endotracheal intubation.
- monitor and manage cardiac respiratory systems in patients receiving general and regional anesthesia.
- participate in all of the teaching activities of the Department of Anesthesiology.
