Goals

This rotation exposes students to the field of Medical Genetics.

Objectives

The student will…

  • participate in genetic counseling sessions.
  • perform pedigree analysis.
  • observe prenatal diagnostic testing (ultrasound, amniocentesis, CVs) and perform dysmorphology evaluations.
  • learn laboratory procedures including karyotype analysis, MSAFP, and triple screening and molecular genetics (PCR, RFLP, SSCP analysis, ect.).
