Goals
This rotation exposes students to the field of Medical Genetics.
Objectives
The student will…
- participate in genetic counseling sessions.
- perform pedigree analysis.
- observe prenatal diagnostic testing (ultrasound, amniocentesis, CVs) and perform dysmorphology evaluations.
- learn laboratory procedures including karyotype analysis, MSAFP, and triple screening and molecular genetics (PCR, RFLP, SSCP analysis, ect.).
