Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS/LCME)

Students from CACMS/LCME accredited institutions may apply for up to 2 electives at BMC through the Office of International Affairs at TUSM.

Applicants must:

• Be in their final year of medical school and have at least 1 year clinical experience.
• Abide by the fees and tuition set by the Office of International Affairs at TUSM
• Be fully registered at least one month prior to start date.
• Comply with the immunization requirements of Baystate Medical Center
  • Please note, in addition to your immunization record, an Annual N95 Mask Fit Test and a second TB test within the last 12 months of your start date, are required for clearance.
  • The Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the CDC has mandated that all health care workers obtain the seasonal influenza vaccine yearly and fill out the Flu Vaccination Election Form.

Other International Medical Schools

Students from international medical schools currently entered into a written affiliation agreement with BMC may apply for 2 electives at BMC through the Office of International Affairs at TUSM.

Applicants must:

• Be in their final year of medical school and have at least 1 year clinical experience.
• Abide by the fees and tuition set by the terms of the affiliation agreement.
• Be fully registered at least one month prior to start date.
• Comply with the immunization requirements of Baystate Medical Center.

Cancellation Policy

Students may cancel or reschedule up to 3 electives without penalty.  A student will forfeit all future electives if they:

• Cancel an elective within 30 days of the start date.
• Cancel or reschedule a 4^th elective without prior approval of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
• Fail to report to their scheduled elective.
  
  The following electives may not be dropped:
  - Emergency Medicine
  - Neurology (Internal Medicine)
  - Pediatric Acting Internship
  - Infectious Diseases

Housing

Registered students are eligible for on-campus housing for up to 2 electives. The fee for on-campus housing is $200 for every 4 weeks.
