Fatimah was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and grew up in Kenya. After her first year of medical school, while working on a community project in Pakistan she realized she wanted to pursue ophthalmology with an “emphasis on making a medical impact in a global socioeconomic context”. During her years at RCSI, she had extensive interests outside of academics, including sports teams, societies, volunteer activities and research. She was president of the Ophthalmology Club, where she has coordinated extracurricular activities for students in an effort to enhance their academic experience. Fatimah has come to Baystate for her preliminary medicine year. When she is not volunteering, Fatimah enjoys playing the clarinet, piano, running and cooking. |
