Michael is the 5th generation to be raised on the same farm in rural northern Maine. He earned his BS in Medical Biology cum laude in three years at UNE and was a member of the National College Athlete Honor Society. Michael has volunteered as a youth mentor to children with behavioral difficulties, as well as spending time helping the Biddeford soup kitchen, the Bangor area homeless shelter and the Special Olympics. He takes great pride and has a “deep-seated respect” for his family and his home. He anticipates returning to rural Maine to practice “medicine in a setting where access to healthcare is limited and the need for competent, well-rounded physicians is great”.  Michael is proficient in French and when he is not busy with academics and volunteering he enjoys outdoor activities such as distance running, hiking/camping, mountain climbing, canoeing, skiing and freshwater fishing.
