Basmah was born in Malden, MA where she lived and as a young teenager her family moved to Cairo, Egypt.  While in Cairo, Basmah attended Ain Shams University where she was accepted into the faculty as the highest ranking student from the IGCSE which is the most challenging international high school system in Egypt.  She was involved in a number of student organized conferences and simulations where she held both leadership and organizing committee positions.   Basmah graduated with honors from her medical school in Egypt and returned to the US to pursue residency training with particular interest in Endocrinology.  She speaks Arabic and enjoys swimming, squash and scuba diving.  Basmah is also a certified group fitness instructor in Cairo, and especially enjoys teaching Pilates and yoga.
