Khalid Zarug, MD

Medical School: University of Al Fateh, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya       Image

Khalid was born and raised in Libya. His interest in medicine started at a young age watching his sister struggle with childhood asthma. Eventually all symptoms of his sister’s asthma vanished but his interest in medicine did not. In his third year in medical school he was drawn to internal medicine after an incident involving a neighbor occurred. He realized that a good intern must be able to act and think quickly. He graduated from medical school in the top three of his class and was awarded a scholarship to complete his specialty training in the United States. His goal is to “return to Libya to practice clinical medicine, teach the next generation of medical students, and contribute to the development of healthier communities”. Khalid speaks Arabic and his interests include playing soccer and cycling.
