Wanda’s passion for medicine came from her struggles as a child watching her dad battle an illness. She learned through these early experiences that all patients should be treated as a whole person. This is why she volunteered and worked in many programs during college such as the San Juan Veteran’s Hospital.

Wanda graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a B.S. in Natural Sciences. She then completed a MPH degree in Epidemiology at the University of Puerto Rico, School of Public Health where she received an Academic Excellence Award for outstanding students. Wanda has been in many leadership positions in her class as student representative of the Association of American Medical Colleges, founding treasurer of the UPR Geriatrics Association and editor in chief of the Public Health Student Newsletter. She was also awarded the Gold Humanism in Medicine Society membership for her excellence in humanistic qualities.

Wanda is fluent in Spanish and in her free time she enjoys playing the flute and reading.
