In addition to her medical degree, Saskia has a Bachelor of Science in molecular and cell biology, and a Master of Public Health in epidemiology and biostatistics. Between degrees she worked as a lab technician at Massachusetts General Hospital. Saskia also was a hotline volunteer, answering calls from those contemplating suicide. Her volunteerism expanded her thinking about medicine, and she continues to use some of the skills she learned during her volunteerism when communicating with her patients today. Outside of the medical venue, Saskia’s interests include in-line skating, reading fiction and cooking.
