A native of Malaysia, Melvin began his medical studies at the International Medical University (“IMU”) in Malaysia and completed his studies from Dalhousie, one of IMU’s partner schools. In his opinion, “an internist is everything that a physician represents.” Melvin feels that Baystate’s residency program will lay the foundation for his scientific and academic pursuits in medicine and contribute to his growth as a human being, thus endowing him with the best attributes to later specialize in Oncology. Because he has lived in Malaysia, Singapore and Canada, Melvin can communicate in Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, and English – a definite asset for someone passionate about traveling and meeting interesting people. He has participated in expeditions to climb the two highest peaks in Malaysia, and enjoys backpacking, and playing soccer and the piano.
