Sarah grew up in Western New York and graduated from Colgate University with a B.A. in Chemistry. During the fall semester of her senior year, she worked at NIH in the cell biology laboratory of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Following graduation, she was asked to return to the same laboratory and she received an Intramural Research Training award. Her research there has resulted, to date, in the publication of three papers.
During the summer following her first year of medical school she spent a month in Prague rotating through several hospitals and learned about the Czech health care system and culture. During her fourth year of medical school, Sarah spent a month in Costa Rica studying medical Spanish and working in clinics. Throughout medical school, Sarah has been very involved in the American Medical Association and has volunteered at Buffalo's many clinics for the underserved. Sarah is proficient in Spanish, interested in global health, enjoys movies, theater, and Sabres games, and loves to travel. |
