James graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, earning his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry.  Among his many honors, he received the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences Merit Award. Receiving the highest grade in his class, he earned the Department of Biological Sciences Academic Achievement Award and the University’s Award for Academic Excellence. He matriculated to the Ross Univ. School of Medicine in 2003.   

James enjoys basketball, weight lifting camping, hiking and meditation.
