Health Geographics Program

Baystate Medical Center's Health Geographics Program, established in 1998, is the only full time hospital based GIS department in the U.S.


HGP is internationally recognized for “pushing the GIS envelope” by applying GIS technology in creative and operations-critical ways in the areas of hospital, healthcare and “hospital-land” security. HGP staff has over 80 combined years GIS experience in health, environment, spatial statistics, spatial epidemiology, and hospital GIS projects.
