What is Gifts of Gratitude?

Gifts of Gratitude is a program that creates the opportunity for patients and family members to thank CAREgivers for the compassionate, thoughtful and professional care they receive when in need of services throughout Baystate Health. The program invites patients and family members to say thank you in a meaningful way and acknowledge and honor physicians, clinical care providers and staff who have done something special on their behalf.

How are Gifts of Gratitude donors recognized?

Gifts of Gratitude donors are sent an acknowledgement letter for their donation from Baystate Health Foundation. They also receive a thank you card from the Baystate Health employees they honored.

Where do the gifts go?

Donations made through the Gifts of Gratitude program go to the Baystate Health “Greatest Need Fund” which gives donors the opportunity to support the programs that need it the most throughout Baystate Health.

How are Gifts of Gratitude honorees acknowledged?

Patients and family members may honor CAREgivers by completing a simple donation form and returning the form and their contribution to the Baystate Health Foundation. Forms are located in Gifts of Gratitude brochures throughout Baystate Health hospitals and medical practices and through the Gifts of Gratitude website.

How are Gifts of Gratitude honorees recognized?

Baystate Health Foundation will recognize Gifts of Gratitude honorees with a certificate from the Foundation, and a custom designed lapel pin.  Gifts of Gratitude honorees will also be recognized in Baystate Health publications, such as Connections and on the Gifts of Gratitude website.

How does Gifts of Gratitude differ from Baystate’s Best?

Baystate’s Best is an internally focused program designed to recognize staff performance in their roles.  Gifts of Gratitude allows grateful patients and family members the opportunity to support Baystate Health while paying tribute to their special CAREgiver, the individual or group of individuals who made a difference in their care.

What can we as medical staff and Baystate Health employees do to promote Gifts of Gratitude?

As a Baystate Health affiliated physician, nurse or other staff member, you can inform your patients and their family members of the Gifts of Gratitude program when a patient asks “What can I do to repay you for your work? At any time you may provide them with a Gifts of Gratitude brochure and return envelope.  You may also refer them to the Baystate Health Foundation website or call the Foundation office at 794-7779.

How else is the Gifts of Gratitude program promoted?

In accordance with HIPAA regulations, the Baystate Health Foundation will send Gifts of Gratitude brochures to former patients inviting them to recognize Baystate Health staff members and physicians who made a significant impact on their experience.

What are some examples of actions that inspire people to make Gifts of Gratitude? And are ALL Baystate Health medical staff and employees eligible to be Gifts of Gratitude honorees?

Sometimes the smallest actions have the biggest impact, especially in times of need: a kind word, a gentle smile, special care.  Oftentimes people are grateful for the individuals who save a loved one’s life, bring a new life into the world, or share the journey as a life ends.  Any Baystate Health employee can be recognized as an honoree of the Gifts of Gratitude program.

Can one donation to the Gifts of Gratitude program honor multiple Baystate Health employees?

Yes, we welcome any name that made your stay at Baystate Health a great experience.

Can an entire department (team, floor, etc.) be honored through a donation to Gifts of Gratitude?

Yes, a department can be honored.  However, the department will receive a signed 8 X 11 certificate, not individual custom designed lapel pins for each department member.
