Community Support/Health Education Classes

Facing a major illness or stressful life change can be a daunting prospect. Support groups bring together people facing similar issues and can help them to cope better and feel less isolated by making connections with others facing similar challenges. 

 

Alcoholics Anonymous – meeting held in the Main Conference Room 2nd Floor, Sunday Evenings 7:00 pm -8:15 pm.

 

Aphasia Conversation Group- for family members and patients that have difficulty communicating following a stroke, head injury, or other neurological problem. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month, 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm in the BMLH Rehabilitation Department.  For more information or to register to attend contact Natalie D. Breast Cancer Support Group-Open to all women with breast cancer regardless of stage of treatment.   Meeting are held the 4th Wednesday of every month, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.  Contact Camille St.Onge, LICSW, Oncology Social Worker 413-967-2245.    

 

Cancer Support Groups 

  • 1st Wednesday of Month General Cancer Support Group, 11:00 – 12:30.  Open to all cancer diagnoses.
  • 3rd Wednesday of Month Expressive Writing Through Cancer, 11:00 – 12:30:  a 10 week, guided, topic-driven group for those experiencing cancer.  Open to all cancer diagnoses.
  • 4th Wednesday of Month Breast Cancer Support Group, 11:00 - 12:30  open to all women with breast cancer regardless of stage of treatment.  
  • 2nd Tuesday of Month Partners in Caregiving, 5:00 – 6:30:  an early evening support group for caregivers of people with cancer.
  • 2nd and 4th Tuesday of Month, 11:00 – 1:00:  Circle of Angels Quilting Support Group for those who have been touched by cancer in their lives.  Making quilts for patients undergoing cancer treatment.  No experience with sewing or quilting is needed.
  • Look Good Feel Better Program:  A 2 hour program every 3 months for women who are undergoing cancer treatment currently or within the last 12 months.  The program focuses on skin and nail care tips, scarf and wig tips and makeup tips during the changes associated with cancer treatments.

Childbirth Classes - Main Conference Room, as scheduled Tuesday Evenings – (Call Baystate Health Link at 967-2488 or 1-800-377-Health to register for classes)

 

Circle of Angels, A Quilting Support Group for People Who Have Been Touched by Cancer- meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 11:00am to 1:00 pm in the Weatherby II Conference Room.  Contact Camille St.Onge, LICSW, Oncology Social Worker 413-967-2245.    

 

Diabetes Support Group – The First Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 6:00 pm in the BMLH Main Conference Room, 2nd Floor, facilitated by Alicia Walter MS, RD, LDN, Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Educator.  Contact Michelle Holmgren 413-967-2296.EMT Continuing Education Program, BMLH Main Conference Room - 4th Wednesday of every month (unless noted on schedule) 6:30-8:30 pm.  Contact Michelle Holmgren 967-2296   $10.00 per class or $50.00 per year.

 

Expressive Writing Through Cancer – a ten week, guided topic-driven group for those experiencing cancer.  Open to all cancer diagnoses. Meeting are held the 3rd Wednesday of every month, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm.  Contact Camille St.Onge, LICSW, Oncology Social Worker 413-967-2245.
