  • Analysis of the patient's family and medical histories.
  • Physical examination of the patient by a medical geneticist with diagnosis of any potential genetic disorder.
  • Discussion of inheritance patterns for relevant genetic disorders.
  • Discussion of available testing procedures.
  • Discussion of all pursuant pregnancy options.
  • Referrals for any further testing or consultation with community resources 
About Our Practice:

Baystate Genetics provides genetic counseling that communicates information about inherited conditions within a family and identifies genetic issues and risks that expecting parents should consider.  Based on the family and medical history patients provide, we aim to give patients a complete understanding of any genetic conditions they may face and their implications.  Our counselors are trained in the areas of medical genetics and psychosocial counseling.  They help patients make decisions about genetic testing and medical management.  Genetic counselors do not make decisions for their patients; they only facilitate the decision-making process.

We participate in most insurance programs offered in our area.

If you have any questions about whether your specific health plan covers our services, please call the toll-free number on the back of your insurance member ID card.

 

If you have commercial insurance coverage, primary or secondary, we will submit a claim to your insurance carrier. You are responsible for all balances due after your insurance company pays its portion, as well as for any co-payments required by your insurance company at the time of the visit.
