Designed exclusively for children and families

The Baystate Children’s Hospital Specialty Center, which opened in September 2013, was not only designed with input from our caregivers, but also with feedback from our young patients and their families, to help ensure the best in comfort, care, and convenience. We incorporated their suggestions into the design, as well as into the way we will provide care.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the Baystate Children’s Specialty Center is the fact that it looks like anything but a medical facility. More akin to a playscape or children’s museum, the center features over 57 bright and cheerful colors. Lighting, carpeting and flooring, furniture, and artwork by local artists were all chosen with babies, children, and adolescents in mind.
