| About Our Practice: |
Baystate Orthopedic Surgery Center is a hospital outpatient ambulatory surgery facility. Advances in medicine and technology make it possible for an adult or child to have non-emergency surgery and return home the same day. Our most important goal is to get you back to the life and activities you enjoy in the safest, mostly way possible.
Special Care for Kids
Children who need surgery find our environment particularly calming and comfortable. We make every effort to accommodate the special needs of children. To put children at ease and make them feel at home, we encourage parents to:
|
| |
-
Visit Baystate Orthopedic Surgery Center for a tour the day before surgery.
-
Bring a favorite toy or blanket for the child.
-
Talk with the child ahead of time about the surgery to relieve any uneasiness the child may have about the surgery.
Parents may accompany their child to the operating room and leave after the child is asleep. They may rejoin their child as soon as it is appropriate. We insist that one parent stay at the Center during the surgery and recommend that one adult drives and the other cares for the child on the way home. We request that all other children in the family remain at home.
