BFMC Oncology Department and Forest Moon Offer Writing Workshop for Those Touched by Cancer

September 24, 2009

Forest Moon, Inc., in partnership with Baystate Franklin Medical Center’s Oncology Department, will offer its seventh free writing workshop, Spirit of the Written Word, for western Massachusetts residents touched by cancer.   The 10-week fall workshop will take place on Thursdays, October 1 - December 10, from 6 – 8 pm, in Deerfield Academy’s Health Issues Classroom.  Promote your own healing and experience the therapeutic benefits of group writing. No writing experience is required, and all sharing is voluntary and confidential.  Refreshments will be provided.

Facilitating the workshop is Pam Roberts, Forest Moon’s program director.  A graduate of the IM School of Healing Arts in New York City, Roberts is a writer, artist and energy healer.  When she was diagnosed with breast cancer 12 years ago, Roberts found writing to be an important part of her healing process.  She believes deeply in the transformative and healing power of writing within a safe and supportive workshop environment.

One of the participants in last fall’s workshop commented, “The workshop is a positive and creative outlet for the stress of cancer and I appreciated the non-judgmental audience.”  Another commented, “Pam has a gentle, wonderful nurturing that helps people to find their voice and put it into words. . . .”

The workshop is being sponsored by Forest Moon, in collaboration with BFMC Oncology

The Spirit of the Written Word writing workshop is limited to 12 participants; registration is required.  To register, or for more information, contact Pam Roberts, Program Director of Forest Moon, Inc., at 413-625-2402 or pamro@aol.com.  Information is also available in the Oncology Department at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
