Ware, MA (January 22, 2013) - “During the winter months, blood donations decrease due to bad weather and illness,” said Suzanne Stockley, recruiter of the Baystate Health blood donor program.
“All blood types are needed. Please help us to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply is available throughout the winter season by donating blood with Baystate Health Blood Donor Program.”

The blood mobile will be at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital on Monday, February 11, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and will be located in the North (Visitor’s) lot. “One hundred percent of all blood collected on the bloodmobile stays in our community for use in Baystate Health hospitals and facilities,” said Stockley. “Remember, there is no substitute for human blood.”

In appreciation, all eligible donors will receive a $10.00 gas card and a free car wash good at any
F.L. Roberts location. To be eligible to donate, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in general good health (no colds, sore throat, fever, etc.). You may donate if you have had the flu vaccine or flu mist.

Blood donations take approximately one hour to complete, including the interview, donation, and refreshments. To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old; weigh at least 110 pounds; have a photo ID; be in good health (no colds, sore throat; no antibiotics within 48 hours); and you may not have donated blood within the past eight weeks.
