SPRINGFIELD -- Baystate Health is providing an update to information it shared Friday about a batch of romaine lettuce that was identified by one of Baystate’s suppliers as potentially contaminated.
The supplier has now changed its directive from Friday and determined conclusively that Baystate Health did not receive any lettuce that was potentially contaminated and therefore subject to recall. Baystate Health is pleased to report that any concerns about illness due to this batch of potentially contaminated lettuce at Baystate facilities may now be put to rest.
While we recognize that the initial information may have caused concern, Baystate Health stands by its decision to inform the community as soon as possible of any potential health risk.
In light of continuing national concerns about contaminated produce, Baystate Health encourages the community to maintain the highest standards for safe handling of all foods, and encourages people to educate themselves about food safety.
