Baystate Mary Lane Hospital’s Echocardiography Lab Receives Accreditation

December 20, 2011

Ware (December 20, 2011)- Baystate Mary Lane Hospitalannounces that its echocardiography lab has been awarded a two-year term of accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL).

“ICAEL accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that our hospital has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of echocardiography,” said Chad Mullin, Director of Diagnostic Services.

Echocardiography or “echo,” as it is often commonly called is a test that reveals important information about the anatomy of the heart. It is especially useful for detecting problems with the heart valves and is also a good way to get a general idea of the overall function of the heart muscle.

Accreditation by the ICAEL means that Baystate Mary Lane Hospital Echocardiography Lab has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The ICAEL grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.
