Ware, MA (September 28, 2011) - Baystate Mary Lane Hospital welcomes general surgeon, Matthew R Brackman, MD to its Medical Staff.
Dr. Brackman brings a wealth of surgical and medical expertise to our hospital, he is a great addition to our medical staff,” said Dr. Mohammed Ahmed, Chief Medical Officer of BMLH and BH Eastern Region. “His training and experience will be a great asset to our patients who need emergency or routine surgical care as we continue our mission to meet the needs of patients in our community.”
Dr Brackman received his bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from Tufts University in Medford, MA and his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston. He completed his Surgical Internship at Boston City Hospital and his Surgical Residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. Dr. Brackman also completed a mini Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery at Ohio State University Medical Center in the Department of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Board certified in general surgery, and a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Dr. Brackman is extensively trained to manage many surgical problems and diseases and has special interest in laparoscopic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, and obesity surgery.
“Growing up in a small town in Massachusetts I have always been drawn back to this lifestyle,” notes Dr. Brackman. “The people and the scenery of Western Massachusetts give me a sense of belonging and of being home.
With a 14 year career in medicine and surgery, Dr Brackman speaks of a love for anatomy and an ability and passion to accomplish complex tasks with his hands. “Surgery also allows me to cure, all at once, some of the most devastating ailments that afflict mankind; removing a cancer, reversing obesity, repairing a perforated organ,” said Dr. Brackman. “I feel a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction in caring for each of my patients.”
