SPRINGFIELD – Baystate Medical Center’s three community health centers in Springfield will hold free health fairs during National Health Center Week, Aug. 11-17, whose theme this year is “Celebrating America’s Health Centers: Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities.”
The health fairs – designed to assist adults and children in the communities surrounding the health centers in their goal of achieving a healthy lifestyle – begin on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Baystate High Street Health Center located at 140 High St.
The fairs continue on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center at 11 Wilbraham Road, and conclude on Friday, Aug. 16 when Baystate Brightwood Health Center/Centro de Salud holds its event from 1-4 p.m. at Kenefick Park on Plainfield Street.
Among the free health screenings to be offered at the various sites will include blood pressure and confidential Rapid HIV testing. There will be health information available on different topics at each event, including diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, asthma, depression, and other health-related issues and diseases.
There will also be special activities for children and music.
