It’s Men’s Health Week – Health Tips, Part I

It’s a known fact that preventive care can extend your life and help prevent illness.

“Preventive medicine is based upon teamwork and mutual trust. Men need to collaborate with their primary care provider to identify risk factors based on their current health status and family medical history. A health plan should then be developed to prevent or treat disease in its early stages,” said Dr. Neil Bach of Baystate Medical Practices - Deerfield Adult Medicine.

“If you are under age 40 and in good health, with no pre-existing conditions that require regular monitoring, you should visit your primary care provider every 2-3 years. When healthy men turn 40, they need to begin annual health reevaluations, more often if they have a chronic condition such as diabetes or hypertension,” he added.
