Baystate Franklin Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes BFMC’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards.
Baystate Mary Lane Hospital was named one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission for attaining and sustaining excellence on accountability measure performance. One of only 405 U.S. hospitals and critical access hospitals in the nation to earn this distinction, BMLH was recognized by The Joint Commission for pneumonia and surgical care.

U.S. News and World Report
BMC captured a national ranking in the 2011-2012 U.S. News Best Regional Hospitals listing, earning the designation of “high-performing” in 10 medical specialties, including Cardiology & Heart Surgery; Diabetes & Endocrinology; Ear, Nose & Throat; Gastroenterology; Geriatrics; Gynecology; Nephrology; Orthopedics; Pulmonology; and Urology.
Additionally, BMC was honored to have been named to the 2011-2012 U.S. News Most Connected Hospitals list. This list recognizes hospitals distinguished as being leaders, significantly advanced in the adoption of electronic medical record systems.
BMC was one of only 118 hospitals nationwide to have met these two standards of solid medicine and early adoption of information technology.

Stroke Collaborative Reaching for Excellence (SCORE) is a quality improvement collaborative that supports Primary Stroke Service designated hospitals in Massachusetts. The Collaborative, a partnership of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Registry, and the American Stroke Association, assists designated hospitals in monitoring and improving the quality of stroke care for acute, inpatient and secondary prevention performance measures.
In 2011, Baystate Medical Center and Baystate Franklin Medical Center each won the American Stroke Association/American Heart Association's Get with the Guidelines Gold Plus Award, and Baystate Franklin Medical Center received the SCORE Defect-Free Care Award.

National Committee for Quality Assurance
In 2011, several Baystate Medical Practices received Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition, the highest attainable recognition, by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This recognition was received based on redesigned work-flow at medical practices that emphasizes a team-based approach to care, with new processes focusing on coordination of care, quality, safety, and preventative care, supported by the use of health information technology tools such as electronic health record, electronic prescribing, and an electronic patient registry.
