Semen specimens for Intrauterine Insemination and IVF/ICSI are processed on discontinuous gradients to remove seminal plasma and some of the poorer quality sperm. Some semen that appears to be of good quality before processing on the gradient, yields very low numbers of sperm post-processing. The Practice Prep is done before treatment to determine both the pre- and post- processing semen quality.
Because the Practice Prep is done to get information on semen quality, the test is billed to the man.
