Radiology

Our radiology services include: state-of-the-art CT Scanning, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Digital Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Diagnostic X-ray, Bone Densitometry and Ultrasound. These services are generally provided in response to a physician's order.

The Radiologists and Technologists are committed to providing the highest level of radiological examinations to meet the needs of patients and physicians.

Our Radiology Department has a large, well-trained faculty. Many members have an academic appointment with Tufts University, School of Medicine. Each is actively involved in teaching within our residency program in diagnostic radiology and our 4th year elective in diagnostic radiology. Our technologists are well trained and teach technology students from Springfield Technical Community College who receive their clinical training in our department. Their training programs create an atmosphere which promotes learning and the critical evaluation of what we do. Many are active in research. There are subspecialists in neurology, mammography, ultrasound, interventional radiology, cardiac imaging, nuclear medicine and more.

 

Staff provides coverage 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Other sites, including the Comprehensive Breast Center, Ambulatory Care Center and Chestnut Surgical Building, offer additional diagnostic services.

 

The Radiology Department utilizes leading technology and state-of-the-art equipment. The main department offers a full spectrum of services, including but not limited to:

  • Fluoroscopy
  • Specialized examinations
  • Panorex
  • Computerized radiography
  • Portable and other requested examinations.

 

We offer imaging of the following body parts on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.  All outpatient services require a prior written order from the patient's physician.  The following list is not all-inclusive:

  •   Head and Neck
  •   Chest & Ribs
  •   Abdomen
  •   Spines - Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar
  •   Upper and Lower Extremities
  •   Fluoroscopy Procedures - UGI, BE. Etc.
  •   Arthrograms
  •   Cine/Video Esophagrams
  •   Contrast Injections - IVP's
  •   Myelography/Discography

 

In all cases, we employing the lowest radiation level possible and employ digital/computer imaging to maximize patient safety.
