Program Administration

About CBR

Since its inception in 1995, the CBR Program has grown steadily to become the vibrant enterprise that is described on this web site. To learn more about us, we invite you to peruse our web pages, and to feel free to contact us.

There are currently 83 faculty members participating in the Program's activities, 55 from 16 departments at UMass Amherst, and 29 from 19 departments at Baystate Medical Center. The breadth of departmental representation is an accurate reflection of the Program's success in promoting highly significant interdisciplinary collaborations. Over $1 million of seed funds have been invested in these collaborations, and they in turn have attracted over $3.3 million of extramural grant awards.

We are delighted that undergraduates at UMass Amherst also benefit from the CBR Program as recipients of Summer Internships in biomedical research. Upper level undergraduates gain valuable research experience that enhances their education and career prospects.

The Clinical and Molecular Medicine course sponsored by the Program is open to both graduates and undergraduates. We greatly appreciate the outstanding contributions of course coordinators and instructors from both institutions. The course syllabus is a glowing reflection of their collective endeavor.

The CBR Program already provides a major intellectual drive for biomedical research and training in western Massachusetts, and we anticipate that with its continuing success, it will be a beacon for biotechnology enterprise in the region.
